Many thanks again to all those who came out to shoot 13 stages of fast, challenging and fun PSNZ22 rimfire competition!
Congratulations to Christian, Simon and Gary who place 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. It was a close shoot – with only two points between the top two.
Sadly, the worlds most elaborate target system decided to burn it’s little motor out – so had to be retired mid-shoot – but the mad scientists behind it already have plans for a bigger and better system.
Talking of which, massive thanks also to Matt and James, without whom, none of this could happen.
There was also a wide variety of firearms there on the day, from 10/22 platform (Kidd), AR Platform and trusty bolt’s (though Gary’s beast took the prize for most intense scope choice). What is interesting is that while the semi-auto’s certainly provided a speed advantage in some stages, they also didn’t give up much in the way of accuracy – we might have to push a few targets a bit further out next time to really see if we can find a difference!
Rimfire competitions are a fun and cheap way to get into competition shooting. We had shooters from both ends of the skill spectrum – for some, it was their first competition, for others, well versed in shooting the bigger guns, the 22LR shooting gave them an equally challenging day, but without the recoil, noise and cost!
Make sure you to our newsletter to hear about our next shoot!
The award for the highest level of commitment to a shooting position has got to go to Simon with his lounge lizard technique. There were a few creaks and pops heard as he pulled himself back out of that one!
