The recent Kaipara Field Steel shoot has a couple of international shooters attend. A group of four from New Caledonia headed down and ended up taking away the two top spots!
Sebastian is also the match director for several shoots in New Caledonia and I told him to make sure he sent me down some info and photos on their shoots. And so he did!
One of their events, The Silhouette Sniper, is a competition featuring a mix of tactical (positional) and prone shooting from 200 metres out to 1650.
Most the targets are IMSSU silhouette. The last shoot had 80 rounds needed over 15 stages.
They break the shooters into small squads and have a range officer who is there for safety and scoring. Shooters are required to carry all gear and food for the day.
It sounds like the weather was good, with a bit of wind in the afternoon (7moa windage at 1.3km for a 300wm).
Congratulations to the winner, Pierrot!

It just starts with the gear!
We also have a range of training courses available. Learn how to set up that new rifle, use a rear bag properly, calculate a ballistic solution and wrap it all around proper fundamentals.
